We invite you to use our website to help your child be successful during their elementary educational experience. On our website, you will be able to access the Georgia Performance Standards that we are focusing on each grade, helpful websites, and great pictures of our students.
Twin Oaks Elementary School follows the curriculum mandated by the state of Georgia. See this site for more information: https://www.georgiastandards.org. Our behavior curriculum is called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports or PBIS. Students are taught behavioral expectations and rewarded for the wonderful behavior that they display.
Classes
Students switch classes within their grade level among a team of teachers. This “departmentalized” structure allows each teacher to focus on specific subject areas, enabling them to deliver engaging, targeted instruction that meets the needs of students across all ability levels. Additionally, students will participate in WIN (What I Need) time during the first 50 minutes of the school day. This dedicated period is designed to provide personalized support based on the individual skills and needs of each student.
Grading
The grading system for Twin Oaks Elementary is as follows:
- A = 90-100
- B = 80-89
- C = 70-79
- F = Below 70 (All grades below 70 are considered failing grades.)
The Georgia Milestones is a comprehensive summative assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school. Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students in grades 3 through 8 will take an end-of-grade assessment in each content area designated by the State Board of Education. Please click here for more information.
