We’d like to welcome you to the learning experience of a lifetime.  We are excited to teach your children! We are going to have a busy and productive year, filled with exciting learning activities, social events, and so much more.  Some of our activities throughout the year include Read Across America Day, TOES on the Road, Science Day, 1,000 Book Celebration, plays at TOES, Field Day, and Wellness Wednesday.

Throughout the year we will keep you informed about what’s going on including classroom plans, student progress, and all the activities that will make this a successful and memorable year.  The student planner, weekly take-home folder, and Parent Portal https://ic.lee.k12.ga.us/campus/portal/lee.jsp are excellent resources for up-to-date information and communication between school and home.

The planner is an important tool to keep up with homework, assignments, field trips, upcoming events, behavior, notes, and any other important information. Please check and sign your child’s planner every day to stay updated! See page 15 in the planner for ongoing student data.  Also, graded papers go home every Thursday in take-home folders unless there are extenuating circumstances.  Please check and sign your child’s folder every Thursday and return on Friday.

The implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) on our campus encourages and recognizes students that demonstrate expected behaviors throughout the school day.  The teachers issue Star Bucks as rewards for positive behavior.  Celebrations are held every nine weeks as well.

Reading & Math

Access online websites that will include activities and practice that students may experience from home. Students must read a minimum of 25 books on their Lexile level by the end of the year.

Standards

Our goal is for our students to be proficient in the following standards by the end of the year.  Proficiency in these standards ensures success on the State test (given in the Spring) and success for students in 3rd grade and beyond.

All subjects are taught according to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. If you would like to see what is required of your child, please visit www.georgiastandards.org .
