PBIS

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support is a process whereby faculty and staff focus more on the appropriate behavior of students than the inappropriate behavior. Students will be recognized and/or rewarded for positive behavior in various ways. The most common way is through the use of S.T.A.R. BUCKS. The Bucks are currency students are able to exchange for items in our S.T.A.R. BUCKS store. In order to keep up with documentation for behavior, each student has a tracking form. The tracking form is updated each 9-weeks. The beginning of the year has fewer restrictions and more warnings so that we can teach and reteach the expectations. As the year progresses, our expectations for behaviors rise. Students have fewer warnings at the end of the year.

Students who have not had their tracking form marked for a behavior during a 9-week period will earn 5 S.T.A.R. BUCKS and will participate in the end of the month PBIS celebration. Students with only warnings will participate in the end of the 9 weeks PBIS celebration, but will not get extra S.T.A.R. BUCKS. If the tracker form is lost it will be an automatic 2 marks.

These expectations are evident throughout our school on the discipline matrices posted throughout the school and the daily news program.
